Manvir Baryan and Drew Sturrock are the Africa Rally Champions in making.

The Multiple racing crew has claimed a third successive victory in the Africa Rally Championship to put their title ambitions to life.

Although Baryan earlier opted for a cautious strategy, he did not put a foot wrong for the two days topping all the events’ stages from start to finish.

They completed the race in 1hr, 47minutes, 6seconds.

“Winning the rally was not in our plans but we are glad it happened this way. Good position for the championship indeed because the gap has now widened on our side, we are more or less champions.

“Overall the event was great, we had both the rough and the smooth side. We now look forward to the final event in Zambia,” says Baryan.

Baryan and Sturrock claimed 25 points to move further atop with 90 points.

Giancarlo Davite and Sylvia Vindevogel maintained their day one position to finish second overall ; 4minutes, 34 seconds behind Manvir.

The Belgian collected 18 points to move to fifth on ARC leader board with 33 points. It was his second ARC event this year.

Burundi’s Valery Bukera sealed the podium positions with the third fastest time of the event.

Leroy Gomes and Urshlla Gomes settled for fourth overall bagging 12 points which keeps them in the second position on the ARC standings with 65 points ; 25 points behind the leader Baryan.

Nizette Christophe and Fabrice Semana finished fifth.

In the Two-wheel category, Remezo Christian topped the classed followed by Dim Imtiaz in second and Uganda’s Gilberto Balondemu in third to seal the finalist list.

Only eight crews of the sixteen that started managed to finish the event.

Kleevan Gomes, Rudy Cantanhede, Peirro Canobbio, Claude Gakwaya and others made up the retirement list.

The ARC now heads to Zambia for the final championship round on 21-23 October.
